Protection From
Trojans
// What is a Trojan Horse?
A Trojan Horse is form of malicious program that often masquerades as a useful and desirable file or software.
// Why are Trojan Horses a significant threat?
Trojan Horses can perform many unexpected activities once they have incorporated into your system. These malicious functions include:
- Remote access for an alternative user. Allowing the access to your system, its data, and your resources.
- Data Destruction which can often be permanent.
- Disabling of security software, making your system vulnerable to more attacks.
- Denial of Service Attacks.
// How are Trojan Horses spread?
Trojan Horses are a bit of a fright because the user usually downloads them on purpose! Just as in the Greek myth, Trojan Horses are presented as desirable gifts that computer users willingly integrate into their systems. It only later that the user discovers that the Trojan Horse is not as helpful as it once appeared, and is in fact, harbouring the enemy.
